February Wallpaper of the month

Naturally being February I looked to Valentines for my inspiration this month. I was admiring many historical Valentine card designs, many were pretty pale lacey designs and others were surprisingly bold and colourful. I have tried to keep it romantic, retaining some floral elements and then add a spark of love and passion.

Happy Valentines to you all x

Festival of Lights - Ghent, Belguim

The was the second edition of the Festival of Lights Ghent which took place in the town centre of Ghent from 26 January until 29 January 2012. Belfortstraat (Belfort Street) was the domain of the Luminarie Cagna. A giant colonnade made of wood and hundreds of thousands of colored lights, with arches reminds one of Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. The entrance area is an imposing 28 meters high.
The audience walks into a fairy tale gallery, surrounded by light and color.

Energy Wasted? On the contrary, this immense work of art with 55,000 LED lights consumes only 20Kwatt / h of electricity.

Happy New Year!
After a long lovely Christmas holiday being back at work was a bit of a shock to the system. What inspiration will kick start the new year? Pantone's vibrant colour of the year for 2012, Tangerine Tango, seemed a good place to start - even its name puts a smile on my face.

The color palette used this month is
Tangerine Tango Pantone 17-1463
Sodalite Blue Pantone 19-3953
Margarita Pantone 14-0116

SPW's latest design for the Penelopes

We had quite a challenging brief from The Penelopes. They were obsessed with animals and surrealism, but they also wanted it colourful and upbeat. However animals in surreal situations, with human-like attributes can quickly descend into the macabre.

One illustrator, Malika Favre, stood out as being able to achieve their vision; by 'visually translating their collective subconscious' - sexy, edgy and quirky. This was coupled with a logo based on the the font 'Dear John' which complimented her graphic style.
